apatheticq's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A long emotional whimpy ass rant. There is an incredible double standard when it comes to what a female can say, and what a man can say. This is a very general idea, but I will attempt to elaborate on it. In the early 90's, when a girl talked about sex, she was a whore. This may have been because I was a little too young to choose exactly who I hung out with, but females were not to talk about enjoying sex. Men on the other hand we're almost required to talk about sex ad nausium. If you didn't express how you banged some chick last night, you were weak. Now, again, this may be diffrent only because I choose to hang out with a set of people that are at the very least somewhat intelligent, but regardless... It seems as though now the tides have changed in opposing directions. When a female talks about sex, it's sexual empowerment. Talking about how men are not skilled in bed is maybe not normal, but accepted as conversational. Talking about the faults of men is almost cultural at this point. However when a man vents frustrations over something he feels, he's an asshole. Now, I'm all for women being able to express whatever they damn well please, but I find it somewhat humerous that a man can be attacked for expressing his opinions in the same light. Now, I am being slightly harsh, as I know many women who are open to several ventures of my complaining. Almost to the point of actually enjoying it, but it seems as though I cannot stress anything without having complete and total tack. I get emotional occationally (read: lots) and express things in a less than mensa fashion. (Which by the way, My test for mensa is in a few weeks. Yay me!) Then again, I do mock the smallest slights in conversation whenever I am out with friends, so I shouldn't take it so harshly.
